Rehabilitation Through Innovation

Rehabilitation Through Innovation Program

Dr. Sean Siebert initiated the Rehabilitation through Innovation program in partnership with various organizations to assist individuals with re-entry, initially focusing on Work Keys testing for the participants. The program fosters entrepreneurship, identifies participants' skills, and facilitates connections with employers, challenging the stigma of justice-involved individuals.

The Rehabilitation through Innovation program is a four-session course, and the program is optional for individuals to participate. By focusing on a collaborative effort with the Rehabilitation through Innovation program, more individuals with substance use disorders can move from treatment to recovery. The program has many components that include helping individuals obtain steady employment and giving them the support services they need to continue working once they are released from incarceration. The program is an amazing opportunity for those who may feel they have nowhere to turn after recovery, reducing the likelihood of relapse. This program begins laying the path to maintaining recovery. The response from program participants has been overwhelming, and we look forward to seeing them continue to succeed.

In 2019, The National Association of Development Organizations (NADO) recognized the Rehabilitation through Innovation program with its National Innovation Award. In 2024, the program was identified by the United States Department of Justice (DOJ), the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP), as a best practice for addiction and recovery that leads to hope and resiliency. The program is now taught in county jails, family support groups, recovery groups, homeless shelters, and alternative learning centers throughout the State.
